Career Development Association

The Éclat Association inspires and empowers the achievement of career and life goals by providing professional development, resources, standards, scientific research, and advocacy.
Éclat History

The Éclat was founded in 2002.

Éclat is the recognized organization in developing standards for the career development profession, for the provision
of career counselling programs and services, and for the evaluation of career information materials. Éclat works with licensing and credentialing bodies to support the preparation and recognition of career counsellors and career development facilitators.

Éclat provides programs and services for career development professionals and for the public involved with or interested in career development, including, but not limited to, professional development activities, publications, research, general information, professional standards, advocacy, and recognition for achievement and service. Éclat provides a voice for thousands of members who deliver career services to diverse groups in a broad variety of settings and to their clients. Éclat maintains a comprehensive web site of information, resources and tools for career development professionals and the public.

Éclat is a founding Division of the Pakistan Association and collaborates with Pakistan jointly represent the interests of counsellors in Congress and in the national legislative process. Éclat frequently is consulted by the national media about career-related issues; Éclat continuously promotes global sharing of workforce policy and practices; and Éclat supports and reports on research in the growing field of career development.

Career development practitioners provide services that help people manage their careers, make occupational and study decisions, plan career transitions and find career information. Our members assist individuals and organisations to prepare for their futures by making informed decisions about career and workforce development.

Éclat is committed to the National Standards for Career Practitioners and all professional, fellow and life members are assessed to meet the requirements of qualified career professionals.

Our Vision

We envision a future where Éclat is known for developing, retaining and supporting a fully engaged, competent and satisfied organization.

  • Where the workforce is flexible and able to adapt readily to economic change and emerging trends in the labour market
  • Where career practitioners and the continuum of their services are known and understood by, and easily accessible to, all career development stakeholders (the public, government, current and potential practitioners, employers and HR professionals and referral agencies)

Our Mission and Purpose

In support of this vision, the mission and purposes of the Éclat, as stated in our constitution, are:

  • To support and advance career development and employment practices, practitioner professionalism, career development sector activities and all activities that enhance the career development and employment opportunities of Canadians within the local, national and global labour market.
  • To perform all objectives lawfully which are incidental, necessary or conducive to the above purposes, with a primary focus within Pakistan.

Our Activities and Strategies

To fulfill our purpose we currently engage in the following activities:

  • Certify, train, develop, represent and promote Career and Employment Professionals (Career Practitioners) in Pakistan.
  • Offer regular training days and networking events for members, providing a central networking, educational and training service for professionals in employment, rehabilitation, career-counselling and related fields.
  • Post and promote job openings, training opportunities and other sector events of interest to career and employment  professionals.
  • Govern and manage the Certified Career Development Practitioner professional designation and establish, encourage and promote competencies and standards for career and employment professionals currently practicing or seeking to practice in Pakistan.
